SOUTH BURNETT WINE TRAIL
Explore Queensland’s newest wine region – the South Burnett!
Discover the magic of the South Burnett Wine Region
Nestled among the striking landscape of ancient forests, national parks, lakes and rich farmland are the vineyards and cellar doors of the South Burnett Wine Region. Here you’ll discover a number of small, family wine producers, whose passion runs deep for their award-winning wines.
A visit to the vibrant wine region brings you face to face with the viticulturists who nurture the vineyards and winemakers who handcraft the wines. Sprinkled across the Barambah Valley in the north, to the Booie Ranges and Kingaroy in the south, cellar doors offer guided tastings, casual conversation and warm country charm.
At every stop you’ll be treated to a unique, personal experience. Most likely the person pouring the wines will have either grown and harvested the grapes, or crushed, fermented and bottled the wines. And each personality will share their passionate stories behind their craft.
Tantalise your tastebuds with sumptuous food offerings prepared from the abundance of fresh, local produce. Pair your food with a glass or two of zesty, whites and fruit-driven reds created to suit the relaxed Queensland lifestyle. Experience wines of the world grown and crafted in the South Burnett; from Semillon, Verdelho and Viognier to Sangiovese, Shiras and Saperavi – and everything in between.
Situated only a few hours’ drive from Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Coast, the journey takes you through picturesque countryside and quaint rural townships.
The South Burnett Wine Region makes a fabulous weekend destination, with five boutique cellar doors to visit. Moffatdale is home to Clovely Estate, Dusty Hill, Moffatdale Ridge and Nuova Scuola Wines. All are conveniently located within 5 minutes of each other.
The fifth cellar door in the region is Kingsley Grove Estate, situated close to Kingaroy, and is ideally located for people heading to or from the Bunya Mountains.
There are several producers who currently don’t have a cellar door, but have their wines available for purchase at Farm2Fork Collective store at Wooroolin, situated on the Bunya Highway between Kingaroy and Murgon. A selection of local wines are also available at Wondai Art Gallery – making another interesting destination while in the region.
A variety of accommodation options are provided at several wineries, enabling visitors to enjoy a whole weekend exploring the cellar doors and other regional attractions. Several winery tour operators also offer personalised wine tours for those after a more indulgent wine experience!
